Real Michigan Wedding: Kari & David (Part 1)

Real Midwest Weddings -- September 24th, 2009 -- 12:00 pm

We couldn’t be more delighted and honored to share Kari & Dave’s Michigan wedding here on C&B—it’s simply one of the loveliest events we’ve seen. The wonderful Jen at JK Photography caught all of the beautiful vintage details Kari wove into the day. Fresh pink peonies, an emerald green garden setting and one gorgeous, gorgeous gathering of family and friends—the day was nothing short of glamourous. You can’t help but feel all the love!

“I personally loved getting ready with my girls. It has been a long time since I have sat in a room with my close friends and was pampered.” Kari found her stunning Nicole Miller silk dress in Chicago. She complimented the dress with a vintage gold chain, clutch and fresh flowers in her hair. Her bridesmaids dresses are from JCrew. Julie Strating did makeup for the girls. Doesn’t everyone look amazing? Especially little Miss Peyton! Her super-sweet flower headband is from Abby Bella and Kari says she wore gold sandals “like all of us girls.”

It’s no surprise we adore the clover green, pink, and ivory color palette here at C&B—Kari’s inspiration is so lovely! “David and I both hoped to have an outdoor wedding. From there he really let me take on the vision of the wedding. I was so inspired by gardens with lush flowers and lots of color. What really caught my eye was the feel of a vintage garden because it holds simple elegance. It really was the peony that got me started on the color pink. I looooove peony and it was perfect for our wedding because it is a June flower but also very vintage reminiscent.”

The just plain breathtaking florals were designed by Jenn Ederer of Modern Day Floral. When we asked Kari about special details of the day, she said there were simply too many to name but the flowers were a highlight. “I found a vintage brooch to put on my bouquet and vintage hankerchiefs for my bridesmaids to have wrapped around the stems of their flowers. I was absolutely in love love love with my bouquet. It was just gorgeous and I told Jenn that it would be my diva moment for the day.” Kari says Jenn also helped her find the soft green ring pillow by English designer Anna Whitford for the ceremony.

We talked favorite moments and Kari told us, “David and Peyton are the two most important people in my life and it was nice to have a moment to share with just the both of them before the day got too fast forward. She was just so precious and beautiful and Dave and I couldn’t stop smiling at her. She loved my bouquet and was constantly trying to grab it!”

“One of David’s favorite moments is the first time that he saw me. He enjoyed being able to just be with me and hang out while we had our pictures taken. It was the calming of the waters for us—before the big event.”

Just makes us sigh! More soon from Kari & David’s wedding…!
